I had the pleasure of second shooting for Lisa Smith Photography at Nicole and Kevin’s wedding, and it was such a beautiful day from start to finish. Hyla Brook Estate in Derry, New Hampshire was the perfect backdrop for this November wedding! Its modern, airy, and thoughtfully designed for couples who want a seamless wedding experience.


Hyla Brook Estate is one of those venues that instantly stands out. The clean modern farmhouse design, tall ceilings, and huge windows bring in incredible light all day long. The grounds are just as impressive, offering multiple ceremony locations, open lawns, and intimate garden areas that photograph beautifully no matter the time of day. As a photographer, it’s one of those places where every direction you turn feels like a good shot waiting to happen.


One thing I loved most about working here is how intentionally the venue is set up for the flow of a real wedding day. The getting-ready suites are bright and spacious, the Great Room transitions effortlessly from ceremony to reception, and there are endless options for portraits. From manicured paths to the breezeway and stone patio. It gives couples a lot of flexibility, and it gives photographers room to get creative without ever feeling rushed.


Being second shooter meant I got to focus on candid moments and the little in-between scenes while Lisa captured the main events. The combination of her direction and this stunning venue made the entire day feel effortless. Hyla Brook Estate is a new favorite of mine, and I’m already excited for the next time I get to photograph a wedding there.
